The Team Print E-mail

The team is the core of Youth Re:Action Corps staff and executive leadership.

Courtney Klein
Executive Director

Courtney Klein started her work as a social entrepreneur at a young age and had a vision for Youth Re:Action Corps at the age of 18 when she was volunteering in a small rural village in the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico. The people she met, the ways in which she lived and the work she did within the community profoundly impacted her life.

Since the age of 18, Courtney has owned her own for-profit company, Turn Around Cleaning, to provide services to Save the Family to prepare their transitional housing units between the occupancies of homeless families. Courtney has worked previously as the Director of Development for Hope 4 Kids International, a small nonprofit organization providing medical and dental assistance to children around the world. Additionally, she served as the Executive Director of Books for a Better World, a nonprofit organization that provides books and develops libraries in 70 rural communities across Central and South America.

Courtney is an Arizona native and a graduate of Arizona State University's Barrett Honors College where she received her degree in Nonprofit Leadership & Management. Courtney was appointed to the Governor's Commission on Service and Volunteerism in 2006 where she will serve a two-year term.

In 2006, Courtney was profiled in the Arizona Republic as one of Arizona's most intriguing Chief Executives, highlighted as one of the six to watch. Additionally, she was honored by the Phoenix Business Journal's Power Book as a "Power Generation Up-and-Coming Leader." In 2005, Courtney was honored as a Hon Kachina Honoree and in 2002 was named Woman of the Year by the Diocese of Phoenix.

Keren G. Raz
Director of Programs

Keren G. Raz began working as a volunteer for youth related initiatives as a high school student when she volunteered at a day camp in Israel and initiated a pen pal program between Arab Christian and American Jewish youth. During her time at the University of Arizona, Keren traveled to Peru with the Foundation for Sustainable Development and worked for two months at La Escuela Especial, a school for the handicapped. While in Peru she established two libraries and initiated a program to connect deaf students to Internet for the first time. Additionally, she traveled throughout Asia with Kearny Alliance, where she studied economic development and taught English to the children of migrant workers in China.

Keren has previously worked as the founder and president of, Magna Mentoring Project, a mentoring program in Tucson that prepares low-income high school students for the college and scholarship application process. The first class of students to graduate from the program earned more than $45,000 in scholarships. Prior to joining Youth Re:Action Corps, Keren worked as a biotechnology writer at the Flinn Foundation, one of Arizona's leading philanthropic organizations that supports the arts, biosciences, and education.

In 2005 Keren was named to the USA Today All-Academic Second Team 2005 and selected as a national finalist in column writing by the Society of Professional Journalists. She was also listed by the Arizona Daily Star as an up and coming Tucsonan under the age of 25 to watch.
